How you can get the most out of this Lichess feature!

Puzzles

Puzzles are a great way to improve you chess! And, if you practise them often, you will see a big improvement in your chess skills!

Here I will show you how to get the most out of them!

On Lichess, we have several puzzle features, and first, to see them, look at the top of your screen. Hover you mouse over the 'Puzzles section, a list of things should pop up beneath it. Here, I will explain all of them!

Feature #1: Puzzles

These are the normal puzzles on Lichess, and they are very helpful, as they can improve you chess a lot, but only if you practise them on a daily basis! Lichess also is very helpful by having puzzles on a 'Healthy Mix' which means puzzles come from all sorts of games and all sorts of patterns and tactics. But if you want to study something specific, then you can choose it on a list. Lichess also gives puzzle ratings.

Feature #2: Puzzle Dashboard

This a place where you can see your progress in puzzles and see your strengths and weaknesses in the puzzles that you have done. It shows you what you should work on and is a helpful thing to check on every once in a while...

Feature #3: Puzzle Streak

A bit like the 'Survival' feature in the Puzzle Rush section on chess.com, this just helps you get better at being consistent and solving lots of puzzles in a row. There is not much to say about this, but I'll just say that it is nice to practise sometimes.

Feature #4: Puzzle Storm

Here, you have 3 minutes to try and solve as many puzzles as you can! If you play a lot of blitz and bullet (as a lot of people here on Lichess do) it is helpful, as you are put under pressure and forced to play quickly. I think it is a great tool, especially when you want to spot tactics fast!

Feature #5: Puzzle Racer

The online way to battle friends in puzzles, this multiplayer feature is like puzzle storm, except you are trying to get the highest score out of everyone. I would say this is good fun, and a nice addition to the other features.
