Minimum 0.25 second delay between moves, good idea?

Re: Supercerebraco

"It could ruin bullet and blitz play."

How so?

As mentioned above, four moves per second is still extremely fast, and the average human reflex time is only a quarter of a second anyway. So what would be ruined?
Well if it bothers you so much, just play with increments. Problem solved then. You won't time out in all likely hood
I think chess.com had 0.1 sec minimun time loss, even on premoves... But i think lag compensation as we have here is fine.
@1

Two things why some players are fast.
1. They are familiar with the position and they think less time to make a move.
2. Their pre-move technique is very good.
Both are signs of a strong player.

Introducing a delay does not matter much to these players but you are just delaying the games to be finished normally.

To help players having those lag problems, lichess_ provided a 1s compensation per move. The question is does a 1s compensation is enough to those players with high lags? Or does lichess_ properly implemented this 1s compensation?

Being one of those having a high lag I can only appeal for lichess_ to increase the max of 1s compensation to 2s perhaps. But most players having less lag won't agree with this.

Having a high lag and your opponent has lesser lag plus the ability of your opponent to premove_ makes me look like a lot slower. If you cannot reply a premove_ with premove_ and with less time left, it is over.
I really like to play without premove_ which is normal in otb_ games. This is a natural way of holding the advantage of players having lesser lags.

I am looking to a day when lichesss would provide an option or something that would allow me to play only those players without premove_ enabled.
@everyone this isn't classical chess, its internet chess. you move a mouse less than a cm to make a move, so you can make moves in less than a second. thats the game. stop comparing it to real chess and go play a classical time control or with an increment if thats what you want
@25

This is a discussion of how to minimize the disadvantage of having a high lag than your opponent. We know already what is like playing a game with TC with increment and TC with longer time. Even playing with increment and long TC, there is still lag in it. And with premove, the disadvantage has seemed to increase.

Try not to be selfish, listening to the issues of your brothers ;-)
@duropo
>buy soccer mom car
>go to racetrack, enter in drag race
>lose race because car can only go 80
>blame racetrack, demand head start for all soccer mom racers
>complain more
>get rule implemented all cars can only go 80

>ruin racing for everyone
>congrats now its 'fair'
@27

Chess is about skill, knowledge, tactics, strategy and not about lags and pre-moves. So that when you are in the OTB you will be ready.
Hey, doesn't lichess compensate lag for up to 1 second?
#29 Yes it does, so this entire thread is kinda pointless
