How to: Get a NM title in 8 months

If you are young and talented, You can achieve CM in 8 months as long as you can maintain that high of a rating and if you had spent the last 3 years training and studying. I can see this as... possible. But the largest obstacle you will run into even if all these other things come to fruition would be money. Going to tournaments is well, expensive. And you must complete X amount of rated games before you can be a CM or NM and You must foot the bill for each tournament, fee, hotel, transportation, food, coaching, and lastly. You will have to sacrifice your social life. If you can do all of these things, Bunker down in your room ever day only to come out to work out, eat or use the bathroom. Than yes you can do this.
Best of luck,
It definitely possible, only difficulty you might have is not playing enough otb games in time.

You need to commit to a routine and stick to it e.g. a set number of hours each day that you will do some work. That is the hard part and where a coach would be useful as they can structure your routine for you.

I would advise against joining the military and giving yourself more time to get NM tho!
play to your advantages.. if you are good at fast time controls only play g/30 tournaments, if not, play slow.. To hold that 2200 u could just go to really weak events and beat everyone for 23 more games so you could get an established rating, although that might be hard.. I know some 1900s who started out with a provisional rating of over 2200, even one 1600 had that somehow lol... But you are probably a decent player... Just choose your tournaments wisely, and there will be a ton of road bumps along the way and I doubt u can get to NM by hanging onto that rating, because to do that, u have to be pretty good at chess. But if you are good, you can and will.
