Is there a reason why some recent SuperGM tournaments are not displayed on the broadcast page? E.g. Sinquefield Cup 2023 is currently ongoing, has a broadcast: lichess.org/broadcast/sinquefield-cup-2023/round-3/5DPaofpf but cannot be found on lichess.org/broadcast , even with search.
It's unclear. The STL chess club reports that it has made the decision to not advertise its tournaments on Lichess. But my impression--based on hearsay--was that Lichess was the actor who decided to cut ties by prohibiting their broadcasting here. It's certainly possible that's the case, though STL is putting its own spin on their being asked not to broadcast here by reporting that it has 'chosen' to do so.
The decision to cut ties was, of course, over the scandal concerning GM Alejandro Ramirez.
This is about the 4th thread on this in the last couple of days, but here's the explanation. lichess.org/blog/ZNTniBEAACEAJZTn/breaking-the-silence
STL are perfectly free to broadcast on Lichess, but Lichess won't publicise it, just as is the case with most broadcasts.
