I was banned because I didn't want to play the game and canceled it. It's ridiculous.
This is funny. Every few days, someone complains in the forum that people aborting games aren't punished severely enough...
You can't make everyone happy but it's easy to make everyone unhappy. :-)
(BtW, you are probably not telling the whole story; I'm pretty sure that you did not receive a ban for canceling _one_ game.)

@MarazAli35 lichess wants people to play games and have fun aborting games is annoying for both sides hence why if you do it too much lichess gives you a plan ban. What you can do is change who you want to play in terms of rating when creating a game or filtering via lobby but don't abort games

I initially bet that the OP only wanted to play with white, but in the end it turned out that that the OP exclusively wanted to cherry pick higher rated opponents and skipped the lower rated ones...
