I think in Germany it is 4am when it unlocks (I am not sure)
At 4am most people are sleeping.

It unlocks at exactly midnight in Western Europe (CET).

Yes, Germany is same time zone as I'm in and it says around 19:00 (for example) "unlocks in 5 hours"
So that's exactly midnight :)
Yes, it unlocks exactly at midnight. But still, i think most people sleep at midnight.

Yeah, that's why it doesn't really work...

But to be honest, how can you solve a problem in 2 seconds? Without even the interesting possibility of someone else sending the problem to you, you write the solution and then copy-paste it and voila, you solved the problem in 2 seconds? Even that is not possible. How can people then do this?

Let's say, the problem unlocks 18:00 in your time zone. You look at the clock and be like, "ok it's 17:59 let's get the site ready", and then the problem unlocks and they submit a correct answer within 2 seconds. That's impossible.

OMG, i read so much ambition in the comments ...
For me, this is a great fun: Such diverse chess problems remind me of ... the old days, when the publication "Deutsche Schachzeitung (DSZ) still existed. After all the news (and analysis), there was a monthly page with about 20 problems to solve, solutions were published 3 months later. That was the first time, that i came in touch with the huge diversity in problem types and difficulty levels. And i fell in love with the world of problem solving/composing.

In a way, this now is different, if one wants to take part in the drawing for the gift. but since i need neither another chess board nor Carlsens signature, not even a public mention anywhere, i am just enjoying the fun for free. And the latter, i do very much!

Just for the fun of it, and as a valuable addon, very different from puzzle streak or such, as these advent puzzles are meant to be challenging without being useful for chess playing skills, lovely!

Thank you for providing the pointer.
Hmm, on the one hand, he's the world #1 and was my top chess inspiration for the first 10.5 years of me being in the hobby. On the other hand, he gets insecure every time he loses to someone significantly underranked than him, and accuses them of cheating.
