What's the point of learning chess opening?

@Tangelo777 yeah I blunder a lot still even in classical. But the two games we played were 5+0, which I'm really slow so I blunder there.

Wonder why you were once 2000, now you're about 1700 classical? Guess you already answered me that once, which was player pool changes over time.
Quite honestly, opening theory is most important to the grandmasters. Anybody below a GM should study endgames and the middle game before going really far in opening theory.
Probably middle game is most important to learn. Even endings with R+P against R are common and often very difficult. Philidor and Lucena Position are a good start though.
